Ngọc Lũ drum : ウィキペディア英語版 | Ngọc Lũ drum The Ngọc Lũ drum is regarded as one of the most important and prominent artifacts of the Đông Sơn culture of the Bronze Age, a civilisation that flourished in around the 2nd to 3rd century BC in the Red River Delta of Vietnam. The high level of importance placed on it by historians and archaeologists is due to its well preserved and richly decorated nature.〔Higham, p. 124.〕 ==Discovery==
The drum was accidentally discovered in 1893 in Hà Nam Province, southeast of Hanoi, by workers building a dike, rather than during a planned expedition.〔The Bronze Đông Sỏn Drums: A Collective Work of Archaeologists Thúc Cần Hà, Văn Huyên Nguyẽ̂n - 1989 "We have not classified the above in the series of Dong Son Drums discovered, but have listed them for reference. In the years 1893-1894, Nguyen Van Y, Nguyen Van Tiic and others from Ngọc Lũwere building the Tran Thiiy dike in Nhu Trac, ..."〕 The drum was named after the Confucian name of the village where it was found, ''Ngọc Lũ'' (Sino-Vietnamese 玉缕, vernacular tên chữ name ''Làng Chủ'') in Bình Lục District.
